I thought to myself: I’m probably 75 percent Jewish-Ukrainian. Where do I fit into this new simplistic blood-and-soil Hitler-lite Ukrainian world?
Back in 2014, I went to the eastern part of Ukraine right after the post-Maidan civil war began. I did some reporting and filed a few stories (see here and here) from near the frontlines of the war. But most of the stuff I wrote down while traveling through there I never published.
